Ceist:101 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education when she will appoint a second remedial teacher to Scoil Mhuire national school, Ballincollig, County Cork.

I recently announced the appointment of 100 additional remedial posts for primary schools, which will bring the total in place to 1,133.
My Department had applications for remedial posts from over 650 schools. The 100 posts were allocated on the basis of priority of need, following the collection and analysis of data from schools by my Department's Primary Inspectorate. Unfortunately, Scoil Mhuire, Ballincollig, was not selected on this occasion.
I will be keeping the question of further need in this area under review as part of a broader commitment to appoint a substantial number of additional teachers in the coming years.
The needs of all schools, including Scoil Mhuire, Ballincollig will be considered in this context.
