Ceist:

232 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she has considered the request from St. Vincent's CBS, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, for disadvantaged status and the home-school-liaison scheme; if she will approve this request; and, in view of the fact that resources in her Department have improved, if she will reconsider giving financial assistance towards the technology extension which was previously refused on procedural grounds.

The position of this school is being considered in the context of the scheme for the allocation of additional teaching posts to post-primary schools in disadvantaged areas and the extension of the home-school-liaison scheme at second level. A decision in this regard will be taken shortly.

An extension which includes provision for technology was built at the school without the prior written approval of the Department. I am not in a position to sanction a retrospective grant in this case.
