Vol. 444 No. 1

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Sheehan — the refusal by the European Union to include the southwestern region with the south-eastern region and south Wales in the £2.4 billion INTERREG development package; (2) Deputy Crowley — the possibility of holding forthcoming elections on a Sunday in view of the fact that eight out of 12 EU countries vote on a Sunday; (3) Deputy Connor — the need to take the necessary steps to rehabilitate the seven mile fishery on the River Lung, near Ballaghadereen, County Roscommon, where a recent population spill destroyed at least 10,000 fish; (4) Deputy Flood — the urgent need to ensure the protection of existing jobs in Killinarden play group having regard to the decision to launch a pre-school pilot project in the area; (5) Deputy Durkan — the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 100 of 14 June 1994; (6) Deputy Michael McDowell — the failure by the Irish Government to provide extradition guidelines to the Federal Republic of Germany in order to facilitate extradition of German nationals to Germany in view of undertakings given in January 1992, that such guidelines would be prepared and furnished to the German Government and (7) Deputy Hogan — the need to ensure that Irish soccer supporters are guaranteed return journey air services from the United States of America——

Including Ministers.

——in view of recent events whereby hundreds of Irish people were left abandoned at various airports in the United States.

The matters raised by the following have been selected by me for discussion: Deputies Sheehan, Michael McDowell, Hogan and Flood.
