Vol. 444 No. 5

Written Answers. - Alternative Accommodation for Dublin Special School.

Austin Currie

Ceist:

148 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, that has been made in finding alternative accommodation for Ballyowen Meadows special school, Balgaddy, Dublin 22, following her meeting with the principal and senior representatives of the Eastern Health Board; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I can assure the Deputy that I am fully aware of the difficulties experienced by the pupils and staff of Ballyowen Meadows special school and that every effort is being made to resolve these problems.

As indicated to the House on 31 May 1994, my Department is actively engaged with the Eastern Health Board in pursuing possibilities for permanent accommodation for the school. This process is being pursued on an urgent basis.
