Ceist:14 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the number of staff transferred to regional colleges from the relevant vocational education committees since these colleges were established as independent entities. [250/94]
Written Answers. - Regional Colleges Staff.
The Regional Technical Colleges were established on a separate statutory basis on 1 January 1993. All staff who were employed by the vocational education committees in the Regional Technical Colleges on that date transferred to the employment of the Colleges. A total of 2,273 staff were transferred, of which 1,895 were academic staff.
In addition, six clerical/administrative staff employed in various vocational education committee head offices whose duties were proper to the Regional Colleges have also transferred, having been designated as staff of the Colleges under Section 12 (1) (b) of the Regional Technical Colleges Act, 1992.
