185 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a number of statutory voluntary and private sector interests representing the rural areas of County Dublin have prepared a comprehensive application for Leader funding; if he will give the application his full support in view of the contribution a Leader Programme could make to the economic and social development of County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The application from the Dublin Leader Planning Group is one of the 48 submissions I have received.

As I indicated in my reply on 12 October to Parliamentary Question No. 199 tabled by Deputy Philip Hogan, I will be having all the proposals evaluated over the coming months. The proposals will be considered on their merits and it would be inappropriate for me to give a commitment to any particular Leader group at this stage.
