201 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the hold-up in relation to co-operatives operating the milk cessation scheme for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if he will ensure that there is no further obstacle in the way in which co-operatives implement this scheme by finalising all aspects of it. It is assumed the Deputy is referring to the 1994 milk quota restructuring scheme.

I have recently announced detailed arrangements for the sale of quota offered by outgoing producers to co-operatives-dairies under this scheme. I have also announced outline arrangements for a subsidy scheme aimed at assisting certain categories of producer to purchase such quota. The final details of the subsidy scheme will be published as soon as possible after the Commission has agreed them.
