107 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the areas of County Cavan currently classified as less severely handicapped will be reclassified to more severely handicapped status; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1633/94]
I have formally submitted to the EU Commission the recommendations of the Disadvantaged Areas Appeals Panel which were based on its analysis of areas seeking reclassification, including areas of County Cavan, to more severely handicapped status.
It is not possible to say how long it will take the Commission, which is, of course, also considering our earlier submission on the extension of the Disadvantaged Areas, to complete its examination of the proposals.
