128 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the total number of graduates from the teacher education colleges in each of the years 1988 to 1994 inclusive and the number of graduates of each of these years currently holding permanent of temporary posts in primary schools. [1675/94]
The number of graduates from the Colleges of Education for primary teachers in each of these years are as follows: 1988, 589; 1989, 575; 1990, 511; 1991, 252; 1992, 275; 1993, 277; 1994,268.
Statistics are not readily available as to the number of these graduates who are currently employed in permanent and temporary posts in primary schools.
