Ceist:129 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the latest available figures on class size and pupil/teacher ratio in primary and post-parimary schools in the State. [1676/94]
Written Answers. - Pupil-Teacher Ratio.
The de facto pupil-teacher ratio in primary and post-primary schools is approximately 23.4:1 and 16.75:1 respectively.
In the post-primary sector, class size varies depending on the subject choice of pupils within individual schools.
The following table gives the number of classes at primary level in various size bands for the 1993-94 school year.
