121 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give assistance for the provision of proper facilities in respect of the sale of livestock and cattle at a mart to be provided at Bangor Erris, Ballina, County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The food subprogramme of the operational programme for industrial development for the period 1994-99 contains a provision for the improvement of livestock marts. It is expected that the programme will be approved by the EU in the near future. Any application for financial aid by the promoters of the project at Bangor Erris will be considered in that context. My Department is not in receipt of a current application for financial aid from Bangor Erris mart.
