Ceist:

180 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to a deadline by the teachers unions in relation to concluding discussions on early retirement; if her attention has further been drawn to the possible initiation of industrial action in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am aware that the teacher unions have written to the chairman of the Conciliation Council for Teachers about the matters referred to by the Deputy. I understand that arrangements will be made for a conciliation council meeting on the issue in question as soon as possible.
