Vol. 449 No. 6

Written Answers. - North Monastery (Cork) School.

Kathleen Lynch

Ceist:

61 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that parents of children attending the school at North Monastery Road, Cork have received letters informing them that the school will not be able to offer their children secondary places, in spite of the fact that these children received their primary education from the school and the fact that children who had attended primary school elsewhere were offered places at the school; and the proposals, if any, she has to remedy the situation. [4214/95]

My Department was not aware that parents of children attending North Monastery primary school were having a difficulty in obtaining places in the secondary school. I have asked for an urgent report on the matter and will inform the Deputy of the position as soon as possible.

To expedite matters, the Deputy might provide me with any details she has of the pupils in question.
