Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - US Charter Flights.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

153 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the reason he has refused a United States of America airline, Tower Air, permission to fly direct charter flights to Dublin as was previously allowed in 1994. [5078/95]

I have not received any application from Tower Air to operate to Ireland in 1995. Tower Air informed my Department recently that it has no plans to operate scheduled services between the US and Ireland during the summer 1995 period.

Tower Aid did not operate charter services to Dublin in 1994. It did, however, operate scheduled services between the US and Ireland, Dublin and Shannon, in summer 1994. In accordance with the terms of the Ireland-US Air Transport Agreement, as amended in October 1993, Tower Air was allowed to operate to-from Dublin subject to an equivalent number of services being operated by it to-from Shannon.
