Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Hospital.

Liam Burke

Ceist:

154 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Defence the extent to which the hospital attached to Collins Barracks is used; if surgical procedures are carried out there; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4804/95]

The hospital at Collins Barracks, Cork has a capacity of 32 beds. In 1994 the number of admissions was 485. Outpatients clinics are provided twice a week. About 20 personnel attend each clinic. In addition, the hospital provides dental, X-ray, psychiatric and pharmaceutical services for military personnel in the Cork area.

Surgical procedures are not carried out at the hospital. Personnel requiring such treatment are referred either to local civilian hospitals or St. Bricin's Hospital, Dublin.
