Vol. 450 No. 7

Written Answers. - Resources for Office Funding.

Mary Harney

Ceist:

16 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment whether he has satisfied himself that the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs has adequate resources to exercise its existing role as the national policeman of existing consumer legislation; whether the Office will have adequate resources to police bank charges; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5624/95]

I am satisfied that the Director of Consumer Affairs has adequate resources to perform his existing statutory duties.

The staff of his office will be expanded significantly over the next two years to enable the Director to discharge the functions, including the supervision of bank charges, being assigned to him under the Consumer Credit Bill, 1994.
