Vol. 450 No. 7

Written Answers. - Company Law Report.

Liz O'Donnell

Ceist:

21 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the action, if any, he intends to take as a result of the report of the review group on company law; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5631/95]

I intend at the earliest date to bring forward amending legislation, to give effect to those recommendations of the Company Law Review Group I consider appropriate, following examination and evaluation of the recommendations made and any submissions from the public and interested parties prompted by my publication of the first report of the review group.

However, because of the separate nature of the areas and issues addressed in the report and the recommendations made, I do not propose to bring forward an omnibus Bill dealing with all those recommendations. Rather, I would see myself coming forward to implement the recommendations on an incremental or phased basis. My priority is to deal with the group's recommendation in the area of examinership and small business.
