Robert Molloy

Ceist:

42 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Health the funds made available for private nursing home care of the elderly in each health board area in 1994; and the funds proposed for 1995. [5735/95]

Limerick East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 41 and 42 together.

The Deputy will appreciate that the estimate of the cost of meeting the total applications for subvention under the Health (Nursing Homes) Act, 1990, is necessarily provisional, because each applicant is subject to an assessment of dependency, means and circumstances before qualifying.

The following funds have been made available to each health board in 1994 and 1995 to fund subventions under the Act.

1995

It is anticipated, having regard to the information available now to my Department, that the overall amounts provided in respect of 1995 should be sufficient to meet the expenditure which health boards will have to incur under the scheme.
