Vol. 451 No. 7

Written Answers. - Knocklyon (Dublin) Post-Primary Committee.

Tom Kitt

Ceist:

95 Mr. T. Kitt asked the Minister for Education the steps, if any, she has taken in response to the submission made by the Knocklyon post-primary committee; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7185/95]

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 140 of 14 February 1995 where I stated that, while I appreciated the work which the Knocklyon Post-Primary Committee had put into formulating its response to the independent report prepared by Dr. Michael Bannon of the Service Industries Research Centre, UCD, the points put forward were not such, in my view, as would support the rejection of Dr. Bannon's central recommendations.

Subsequently, on 29 March, I met with a deputation representing the Knocklyon Post-Primary Committee and gave, in greater detail, my views on their response to Dr. Bannon's report.

I understand that the committee proposes to forward for my consideration additional statistical data in support of its case.
