Ceist:157 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to have school transport provided for children to the national school from the west side of Clare Island, Westport, County Mayo. [7349/95]
Written Answers. - School Transport Scheme.
I understand from inquiries by my Department that there are 13 children from the west side of the island attending Clare Island national school.
Under the terms of the transport scheme for primary schools, only two of these pupils are eligible for transport. A minimum of ten eligible pupils would be required to set up a transport service.
In these circumstances, it is not open to me to establish a service, as sought.
