128 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Marine the number of tests carried out by his Department in conjunction with the fisheries boards in each of the years 1991 to 1994 for contamination of rivers and lakes by afforestation. [88223/95]
The Department has no direct function in this matter and does not carry out tests of the kind referred to by the Deputy. Technical and scientific assessment of the possible impacts of afforestation proposals on fish stocks in rivers and lakes are the subject of ongoing consultation as between the Fisheries Boards, the Forestry Service and Coillte Teo.
