Vol. 452 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sale of Obscene Material.

Pat Upton

Ceist:

182 Dr. Upon asked the Minister for Justice the present control which exists in relation to the sale of obscene or pornographic material on audio tapes. [8643/95]

No specific legislation for the censorship of sound recordings — tapes, records, compact discs etc. — is in place. To date, my Department has not received any reports which would suggest that a problem of any significant magnitude, of obscene or pornographic sound recordings being put on the market, exists. If the Deputy wishes to submit proposals in the matter I will, of course, be glad to consider them.
