Vol. 453 No. 2

Written Answers. - Official Receptions.

Mary O'Rourke

Ceist:

34 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for the Marine the number of official receptions hosted since the change of Government on 15 December 1994; the number planned for the remainder of 1995; the events or meetings these receptions mark; and the number and purpose of such receptions during 1994. [7957/95]

Neither the Minister of State at this Department nor I have hosted any official receptions since taking office on 15 December 1994 to date and at present there are none planned for the remainder of 1995.

My predecessors hosted two such receptions in 1994, the details of which were: January 1994, the late Deputy Gerry O'Sullivan, then Minister of State, hosted a reception at Cork Airport for the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Squadron based at Brawdy, South Wales to mark their contribution to search and rescue operations off the Irish coast over many years; August 1994 the Minister for the Marine, Deputy David Andrews, hosted a memorial reception in the Imperial Hotel, Cork, on the occassion of the funeral of the late Deputy Gerry O'Sullivan, Minister for State.
