Vol. 453 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Concessions.

Donal Moynihan

Ceist:

67 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he has to give tax concessions to householders who are not connected to the public mains and must provide sanitary services to their private dwellings at their own expense in view of the fact that householders who pay service charges will be allowed an increase of £150 in their tax-free allowance. [9504/95]

The tax relief on service charges arises from the Policy Programme, A Government of Renewal and is a short term measure in recognition of the fact that local charges are seen by some as double taxation.

I have no plans to extend the tax relief in the manner proposed by the Deputy.
