Vol. 453 No. 6

Written Answers. - White House Conference.

James Leonard

Ceist:

30 Mr. Leonard asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the Government Departments and State agencies involved in the co-ordination, documentation and preparation of the case which was presented to the White House Conference for Trade and Investment. [9910/95]

The Government Departments involved in the co-ordination, documentation and preparation of the case which was presented to the White House Conference for Trade and Investment in Ireland, which took place in Washington last week, were the Departments of the Taoiseach, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Enterprise and Employment, Tourism and Trade, Agriculture, Food and Forestry and the Environment. The State agencies involved included the IDA, An Bord Tráchtála, Forbairt, FÁS, An Bord Bia, Bord Fáilte, Aer Rianta, Aer Lingus and Údarás na Gaeltachta.

Government Ministers and officials and the State agencies utilised the conference to emphasise the attractions of investment in the six Border counties. In addition, material which highlighted these opportunities was contributed to a strategic overview paper which the US organisers prepared and which formed part of the conference documentation. Separate documentation circulated by the Irish Government delegation included an attractive promotional package produced by the IDA which highlighted the benefits of investment in the Border counties.
