Vol. 453 No. 6

Written Answers. - Consultant Fees.

Eamon Walsh

Ceist:

47 Mr. E. Walsh asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the practice whereby consultants examine x-rays the following day without the patient's request even after a patient has been discharged and subsequently demand the payment of fees for such examinations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9761/95]

Limerick East): It will be appreciated that I cannot comment in regard to particular approaches taken by consultants when billing their private patients. Where such persons are covered by health insurance, and the vast majority of patients treated privately are so covered, they should take any complaints they have to their insurer.
