Vol. 453 No. 6

Written Answers. - Recommendations Regarding Sheep Dips.

Eoin Ryan

Ceist:

48 Mr. E. Ryan asked the Minister for Health, further to the reply to Parliamentary Question 174 of 23 May 1995, if his Department or any of its agencies, particularly the National Drugs Advisory Board, were notified by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry of complaints received in 1989 and 1993; the action, if any, that was taken in view of these investigations; the reason for the National Drugs Advisory Board's recommendation that the number of authorised sheep dips should be reduced from 17 to 6 in 1994; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9784/95]

Limerick East): I understand that the contacts between the Department of Agriculture and the National Drugs Advisory Board are being dealt with by my colleague, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in replying to the Deputy's question to him which is also for answer to-day.

I have asked the National Drugs Advisory Board to report to me on the reasons for the reduction in the number of authorised sheep dips. This will involve an examination of the files in respect of each individual product. I will let the Deputy have the information as soon as I receive it.
