13 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment if the Government condones the making of direct or indirect financial contributions to political parties by semi-State bodies; if not, if he will seek the recovery of moneys which have been paid in recent years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7873/95]

Ceist:

38 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment the Government's policy regarding the making of direct or indirect financial contributions to political parties; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7871/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 13 and 38 together.

The Electoral Bill, 1994, at present before the Dáil, provides for the disclosure by political parties, elected representatives, candidates, trade unions, companies and other bodies of substantial donations received or made for political purposes. As drafted, the Bill does not contains specific reference to direct or indirect political contributions by semi-State bodies. The debate on the Bill, will however, provide an appropriate opportunity for consideration of this matter.

The Bill will be listed for debate as soon as possible.
