89 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment when he intends to bring section 71 of the Roads Act, 1993, into force; and the plans, if any, he has to give the gardaí authority to take action against operators who use the public road for the sale and advertising for sale of motor vehicles. Section 71 of the Roads Act, 1993 has been in force since 1 August 1993. Statutory provisions relevant to the use of public roads for the sale, advertising for sale or repair of motor vehicles were outlined in the reply to Question No. 79 on 18 May last. I have no plans to amend the legislation in this area.
