91 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education if she considers the payment of £2.93 to students who act as her models for the live art section of the leaving certificate art examination adequate; the plans, if any, she has to pay those students at an acceptable rate; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Models employed in the certificate examinations are normally students who are recommended by the school. In the 1995 leaving certificate, models were required to pose for 15 minutes and 30 minutes with a break of 15 minutes in between. For this work models are paid £2.93 per hour, a figure which is adjusted regularly in line with national wage agreements. This rate of payment compares favourably with that of attendants at the certificate examinations.
