Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Royal Canal Banks.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

121 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if it is the intention to upgrade the pathway and linear area along the Royal Canal at Portland Place, Dublin 1, and to have the dumped trailer and cabs removed. [12959/95]

The Royal Canal bank at Portland Place consists of a 3.5 metre wide surfaced towpath which is not in need of upgrading. I understand that the properties adjoining the canal bank are privately owned and accordingly the Waterways Service has no power to remove the dumped trailer and cabs on the derelict site opposite the junction of Portland Street North and Portland Place.
