Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Shared Ownership Scheme.

Rory O'Hanlon

Ceist:

154 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment the number of applications made to local authorities in counties Monaghan and Cavan for shared ownership and funding for an extension in lieu of housing; the number approved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12918/95]

Information on the level of activity in each local authority under the shared ownership and improvement works in lieu schemes is published each quarter in my Department's Housing Statistics Bulletin— copies of which are in the Oireachtas Library. The latest bulletin relates to the period ending in June 1995.

With regard to the improvement works in lieu scheme, cases are generated from an examination by local authorities of the individual circumstances of households included in their waiting lists for local authority housing, in addition to persons who may have specifically requested consideration under the scheme. Local authorities are responsible for the administration of the scheme and, consequently, details of the number of cases examined by them for possible inclusion in the scheme is not available in the Department.
