Written Answers. - Road Maintenance Costs.
For county council areas, the average cost per kilometre of surface dressing on non-national roads is set out in table 1. Average expenditure per kilometre on road maintenance/road repair in these areas is set out in table 2; these figures exclude surface dressing and surface restoration works. Costs are not strictly comparable as between one area and another because of variations in road widths and other factors.
The returns provided by urban authorities do not lend themselves to this type of analysis.
