Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Land Registry.

Séamus Hughes

Ceist:

256 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Justice if she will have arrangements made to expedite the issuing of a folio (details supplied) which was originally requested from the Land Registry on 22 July 1991, and which has been delayed due to the non-availability of the Land Commission estate map. [12911/95]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that an application for a copy map in respect of Folio 42601 County Mayo was lodged in the Land Registry on 22 July 1991 and again on 7 December 1994.

The reason for the delay in dealing with these applications for copy maps is that a small portion of the lands on folio 42601 County Mayo is not identifiable on the Land Registry map. In order to resolve this difficulty the Land Commission Estate Map was requested in 1991 but, as the Deputy has mentioned, to date it has been unavailable.

In the circumstances, the Land Registry recently contacted the applicant's solicitors and they agreed to accept a copy map of the Folio excluding the plot under query together with a blank map of the relevant townland.

The Land Registry understands that this blank map, if marked by the registered owner, will suffice for the purposes for which the map is required on this occasion. Both copy maps requested were issued on this basis by the Land Registry to the applicant's solicitors on 15 September 1995.
