274 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of applications made to the High Court for civil decrees of annulment in each of the years 1986 to 1994 and in the period 1 January 1995, to 31 July 1995; the number of decrees granted by the High Court and by the Supreme Court on appeal; and the total number of nullity decrees granted in these periods. [12949/95]
The statistics sought by the Deputy in so far as they are available are set out in the following tables. Court statistics are compiled on the basis of the legal year which runs from 1 August to 31 July.
The information requested in respect of the Supreme Court for the years 1985 to 1987 is not readily available due to difficulties accessing files on account of building work at the Four Courts. I am endeavouring to get this information nonetheless and it will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.
