Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - West Pier, Howth.

Seán Kenny

Ceist:

413 Mr. S. Kenny asked the Minister for the Marine if he will have arrangements made to repair broken seats and install additional seating on the West Pier, Howth, County Dublin, resurface the walk area and make it wheelchair accessible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12702/95]

The West Pier at Howth Fishery Harbour Centre is mainly a working area where the range of activities includes the retail, wholesale and processing of fish, net manufacture and repairs and ships chandlery. There is also a syncrolift and boatyard. It is not considered a leisure area and no seating arrangements are in place and none are planned.

The West Pier footpath has been relaid recently and it is suitable for wheelchairs in its entire length. One extra ramp would be desirable and it is proposed to provide this.
