Vol. 455 No. 8
31 Mr. R. Burke asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if he in conjunction with the Taoiseach will consider making European Action Against Drugs the overriding theme of the Irish Presidency. [13209/95]
I have already made clear, as has the Taoiseach, that the question of action to combat illegal drugs is a matter which Ireland will continue to pursue as a priority at EU level, including during our Presidency.
The theme or themes of a Presidency must take account of the full agenda of the European Union. It is the Government's intention that the fight against drugs will be a theme of the Irish Presidency in 1996.
