Vol. 455 No. 8

Written Answers. - Methadone Bus Service.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

68 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health arising from his reply to parliamentary question No. 45 of 29 June 1995, if he intends to introduce a methadone bus service later this year in the Dublin area. [12638/95]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of services for drug misusers in the Dublin area is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance. I indicated in my reply to the Deputy on 29 June 1995 that the board is in the process of expanding its range of services available for drug misusers. The board will also be keeping the situation under continuous review to ensure it is in a position to respond to needs as they emerge. As part of this response the board will be keeping a number of options for the delivery of services under consideration. The introduction of a mobile methadone clinic may arise in that context.
