Written Answers. - New Drugs Measures.
Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware the provision of services for drug misusers in Dublin, including Community Care Area 8, which includes north east Dublin, is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance. I understand that the board formerly had a community addiction counsellor employed to work with drug misusers in the area. The board has recently recruited one additional counsellor and two additional Outreach workers, who will service the needs of drug misusers in Community Care Area 8. This will bring the total number employed to four. I am confident, that these appointments will lead to an improvement in the services for drug misusers in the area.
The Eastern Health Board will be keeping the situation about drug misuse under continuous review to ensure that it is in a position to respond in an effective manner to any needs.
