Vol. 456 No. 3

Written Answers. - Westport (Mayo) Sewerage Scheme.

Séamus Hughes

Ceist:

87 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for the Environment whether the petitioning of the EU Parliament by the landowner affected by the proposed Westport sewerage scheme will delay the appointment of an inspector to carry out an inquiry into the compulsory purchase order; and, if not, when the appointment will be made. [13906/95]

An inspector will not be appointed to hold a public local inquiry in this case until Mayo County Council has obtained the necessary planning permission; this is in accordance with normal practice in such cases.

Any petition made to the European Parliament is a separate matter to be considered by the Parliament in accordance with the provisions of the EU Treaty.
