An INTERREG application from the East Border Region Committee for assisting the development of a car ferry service across Carlingford Lough is currently being evaluated by Bord Fáilte and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
A joint working group comprising representatives from the Department of Tourism and Trade, the Department of Economic Development, Belfast and with the aid of agencies who have operational expertise on the ground will have the overall responsibility in deciding the project's suitability for INTERREG funding.
At present, the various parties, North and South are giving the proposal serious examination and I understand a decision is likely to be announced in the near future.
