Vol. 456 No. 8

Written Answers. - Legal Actions Against Minister.

Seamus Brennan

Ceist:

79 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if the Attorney General and the State will be defending the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications in any legal actions arising from the so-called Lowry affair. [14266/95]

Where a servant of the public, including a Minister, is sued as a result of acts carried out by him in the exercise of his functions, the State will be prepared to take on the defence of the action. A public servant may, of course, choose to be defended by his own legal team if he prefers.
