Vol. 457 No. 5

Written Answers. - Travel Costs.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

89 Mr. Calley asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the costs which have been paid out for flights, hotel reservations and other costs incurred to date by his Department in respect of proposed participants at meetings and conferences, where such participants did not avail of the arranged bookings; if he will give a breakdown in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15783/95]

No costs have been incurred to date in 1995 in respect of the non-utilisation of flight reservations by the Department.

Information is not available on a centralised basis relating to hotel and other costs arising from non-attendance at meetings and conferences but the amounts involved, if any, would be small as it would normally be possible to cancel hotel reservations without incurring a charge. The administrative cost involved in ascertaining the level, if any, of such costs would be prohibitive and could not be justified.
