Liz O'Donnell

Liz O'Donnell

Ceist:

102 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health the voluntary hospitals, if any, that have objected to proposals to allow the Eastern Health Authority to determine the level of funding to each agency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16504/95]

Limerick East): I propose to take Questions Nos. 101 and 102 together.

I will be seeking Government approval to the preparation of legislation based on broad outline for new organisational structures in the Eastern Health Board area very shortly.
There have been no objections in principle from voluntary hospitals in the Eastern Health Board area to the proposal which appeared in the Health Strategy that in future voluntary agencies receive their funding from the relevant health board. Officers of my Department have already met interested parties, including voluntary hospitals, to discuss the issues involved in implementing the proposal. I envisage further, more detailed consultations taking place with all the interests concerned once the Government has taken decisions on my outline proposals.
