67 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education if she envisages appointing teachers and general workers to vocational education institutions through an interview panel, excluding vocational education committee members. [17482/95]
The selection procedures for the appointment of teachers in all post-primary schools will be reviewed in the context of the implementation of the strategy outlined in the White Paper "Charting our education Future". My Department proposes to initiate discussions with the managerial authorities of second level schools and the teacher unions in the near future to review the appointment and selection procedures for teachers, including the composition of selection boards.
While I have no proposals at present to alter the current procedures for the appointment of clerical staff and general workers to vocational education committees, nevertheless, I intend to have the procedures reviewed in consultation with the interested parties.
