Vol. 458 No. 6

Written Answers. - Home Tuition.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

69 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if she will approve home tuition for a child (details supplied) in Kilkenny. [17484/95]

I regret that my Department is not in a position to provide home tuition in this case. I understand that the pupil in question has had a high school attendance for a number of years and, as such, does not qualify for the home tuition scheme operated by my Department.

The home tuition scheme caters for pupils with a serious medical condition which is likely to cause major disruption of their attendance at school on a continuing basis. It is provided only to pupils who cannot attend school at all or are absent for a significant proportion of the school year.
