, Limerick East): Neither my Department nor the health boards are at present considering a policy of managed care in regard to services funded by my Department. I am considering introducing an amendment to the Voluntary Health Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 1995 which would provide further scope for the VHI to respond flexibly to changing patterns of care provision in the future. It will be a matter for the VHI in the first instance, to determine how and when it avails of the provisions governing its operations.
