Vol. 459 No. 4

Written Answers. - Impact Equality Campaign.

Michael Woods

Ceist:

60 Dr. Woods asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the equality campaign launched by IMPACT to secure equal opportunity policies in all public sector employments; whether he supports the campaign; the assistance, if any, he plans to provide; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18336/95]

My attention was drawn to IMPACT's equality campaign for public sector employments when I addressed the IMPACT equality seminar last week. I fully applaud IMPACT on this initiative.

In focusing on its approach to employment equality, IMPACT has produced a valuable resource pack for officials and the general membership of the union. I understand that production of the pack was co-founded by the Employment Equality Agency under the European Union's NOVA project.

I very much welcome the Employment Equality Agency involvement with employer and trade union bodies in promoting the development and implementation of equal opportunity policies. I look forward to seeing progress on this issue in public sector employments as a result of IMPACT's initiative and of the effect of public sector employers and all public service unions, which continue to seek to advance employment equality.
