Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Hughes — the current position in relation to the Westport/Louisburgh water augmentation scheme; (2) Deputy Quill — the 47 per cent rise in first time young psychotic admissions to public patient hospitals between February and November 1995 and the established link between these admissions and drug abuse, (3) Deputy Lynch — the urgent need to review the conditions under which public service licences are granted; (4) Deputy Michael Ahern — the current position in relation to building the new school in Mallow, County Cork, in view of the unsuitable accommodation available at present at Davis College; (5) Deputy O'Dea — the need to tackle the growing problem of homelessness; (6) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the need for a multi-disciplinary study to investigate the reported vitamin and enzyme deficiencies in patients in a Dundalk medical practice; (7) Deputy Cowen — the need to ensure Irish beef is clearly differentiated in the market place as a quality and disease-free product in light of concerns about BSE; (8) Deputy O'Donoghue — the need to take steps to prevent a recurrence of the vicious attacks on two elderly men in Galway at the weekend; (9) Deputy Brendan Smith — the need to approve the provision of a new sewerage scheme in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan; (10) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need to abolish ground rents as a lien on residential property and (11) Deputy O'Rourke and Deputy Geoghegan-Quinn, the action being taken to prevent the Midland Health Board closing the neonatal clinic at Mullingar Hospital.

The matters raised by Deputies Dermot Ahern, O'Rourke and Geoghegan-Quinn, O'Donoghue and Cowen, have been selected for discussion.
