Vol. 459 No. 7

Written Answers. - Arts Culture and Gaeltacht Bills.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

82 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the number of Bills published by his Department for each of the years 1992 to date in 1995; the titles of the Bills; the number of these Bills that were passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas; if he has satisfied himself with progress in 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18697/95]

The Deputy will be aware that the Department of Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht was established in January 1993. Since that time, the following new legislation has been sponsored by my Department and enacted by the Oireachtas:

Broadcasting Authority (Amendment) Act, 1993*

Irish Film Board (Amendment) Act, 1993*

An tAcht um Údarás na nGaeltachta (Leasú), 1993*

National Monuments (Amendment) Act, 1994*
Heritage Act, 1995**
* The Bills in relation to these Acts were introduced in 1993
** The Bill in relation to this Act was introduced in 1994.
The Heads of the National Cultural Institutions, Indemnities and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill were approved by the Government in July 1995 and are currently with the Parliamentary Draftsman.
Work is currently at an advanced stage on the preparation of amending legislation to the Wildlife Act, 1976, and is also continuing on the drafting of Heads of a National Parks and Heritage Areas Bill.
I am satisfied with the progress in the current year.
